Tarbolton Community Development Trust is Tarbolton Community Development Trust is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), established in May 2025 to support community-led development in Tarbolton and the surrounding area.
The Trust exists to deliver public benefit and operates on a not-for-profit basis, with all income and assets applied solely towards furthering its charitable purposes.
The Trust is registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) under charity number SC054279 and is governed by a two-tier SCIO constitution.
As a SCIO, Tarbolton Community Development Trust has its own legal personality and limited liability, enabling it to own assets, enter into contracts, and deliver projects on behalf of the community it serves. The charitable purposes of the Trust include the advancement of education; the advancement of citizenship and community development; the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science; and the advancement of environmental protection or improvement. These purposes are pursued for the benefit of the public and are delivered through community-led projects, partnership working, and local engagement.
The Trust is overseen by a Board of Trustees who are responsible for the overall governance, strategic direction, and financial management of the organisation. Trustees act in the best interests of the charity and ensure that it operates in compliance with its governing document and relevant Scottish charity law. Tarbolton Community Development Trust prepares annual accounts and reports in accordance with statutory requirements and submits these to OSCR. The Trust is committed to transparency, accountability, and good governance in all aspects of its work.The Trust’s principal area of benefit is Tarbolton and the surrounding communities within South Ayrshire.
