Tarbolton Community Development Trust (TCDT) is a community-led charity working to make Tarbolton and the surrounding area a better place to live, work, and play.
The Trust was established in May 2025 as a two-tier Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO). It was originally registered under the name Tarbolton Community Council SCIO. This reflected the fact that the charity was created as the result of many years of work, consultation, and community engagement led by Tarbolton Community Council (TCC).
In November 2025, following guidance from the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR), the charity was asked to change its name. OSCR advised that the original name could be misleading, as it suggested the organisation was the Community Council itself rather than an independent charity. The organisation was therefore renamed Tarbolton Community Development Trust, a name which better reflects its role, independence, and long-term ambitions for the village.
The Trust exists to support and deliver projects that benefit the whole community, both now and in the future. Our overarching aim is to improve quality of life in Tarbolton by strengthening community assets, supporting local initiatives, and creating opportunities for people of all ages.
One of our flagship ambitions is to progress a Community Asset Transfer of the land at the former community centre site and to fundraise for the construction of a new, modern community hub. This facility would be owned by the community, for the community, and designed to meet local needs for generations to come.
The Trust operates in line with its charitable purposes, which are:

The advancement of environmental protection or improvement;
These purposes guide all of our work, ensuring that projects are inclusive, sustainable, and rooted in the priorities of the local community.
